Family Medicine Faculty Physicians

 

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, School of Medicine, Department of Family and Community Medicine has openings at our outpatient clinics for board-certified or board-eligible family physicians to join our department. We are seeking qualified individuals with a strong commitment to teaching medical students and Family Medicine residents and a commitment to excellent scholarship. These positions will hold an appointment of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level as appropriate for applicant’s experience and career trajectory. Fluency in Spanish is desirable. Applicants should be prepared to manage a wide range of complex problems presenting in primary care, including chronic care and prevention. Labor and delivery and prenatal skills desirable.

We are seeking qualified individuals with a strong commitment to patient centered primary care. These positions will hold an appointment of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level as appropriate for applicant's experience and career trajectory.  Applicants should be prepared to manage a wide range of complex problems presenting in primary care, including chronic care and prevention.  Inpatient and OB not required. 

 

Applicants should be prepared to provide a wide range of primary care services and have a broad understanding of health promotion and prevention, management of acute minor illnesses, and the management of chronic problems such as Diabetes, Hypertension, COPD/Asthma, and CHF/Coronary Disease.

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS/ NURSE PRACTITIONERS

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, School of Medicine, has openings for Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners to work full-time in the UT Medicine Primary Care Center. We are seeking qualified individuals with a strong commitment to patient centered primary care. These positions will hold an appointment of Specialist in the appropriate department of the School of Medicine.

 

Applicants should be prepared to provide a wide range of primary care services and have a broad understanding of health promotion and prevention, management of acute minor illnesses, and the management of chronic problems such as Diabetes, Hypertension, COPD/Asthma, and CHF/Coronary Disease. Effective communication skills; excellent health assessment skills; good computer skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a collaborative health care team. Sensitivity to psychosocial issues in health care. Fluency in Spanish is a plus. Salary is competitive with excellent benefits package.

  • State licensure as a Physician’s Assistant OR
  • State licensure as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and national certification to practice as nurse practitioner from agency approved by Texas Board of Nursing as a PNP Primary Care, Eligibility for Prescriptive authority required, Masters of Nursing or doctorate of nursing practice preferred
  • Effective communication skills

  • Good computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a collaborative health care team.

Academic Geriatrician

 

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Department of Family and Community Medicine, Division of Community Geriatrics and Palliative Care is seeking an academic geriatrician at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level to join a group of geriatricians and GNP's in the expansion of our primary care’s clinical missions.  Ongoing scholarly activity and both inpatient and outpatient geriatric care are required.

 

Qualifications:

 

Board certification in family medicine required.  Formal fellowship training preferred, eligible for Texas licensure (current Texas license preferred).  Eligible for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.  Effective communication skills; excellent health assessment skills; good computer skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a collaborative health care team.  Sensitivity to psychosocial issues in health care with an emphasis on ethnic issues.
