Family Medicine Physicians

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Department of Family and Community Medicine is currently seeking physicians to work in our new Westover Hills clinic or at our Diagnostic Pavilion located in the heart of the medical center area. Applicants must be board certified or eligible. These positions will hold appointments of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level as is appropriate per the successful applicant's experience. Opportunities for teaching medical students and family medicine residents are available. Fluency in Spanish is desirable. Applicants should be prepared to manage a wide range of primary care and minor trauma, and have a broad understanding of the acute management of chronic problems such as Diabetes, Hypertension, COPD/Asthma, and CHF/Coronary Disease.

Faculty Associate - Environmental Medicine

Challenging/rewarding teaching/research position with the South Texas Environmental Education and Research (STEER) program of the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSCSA) in Laredo, Texas.

 

Responsibilities include teaching health professions students; collaborating with community partners; conducting environmental health research; writing grants and reports. Some travel in South Texas and Mexico.

 

Master's or bachelor's degree in a health related field with extensive public/environmental health experience. Excellent English/Spanish communication skills required. Texas driver's license required.

Faculty Associates - PA's or FNP's

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Department of Family and Community Medicine is currently seeking Physician Associates or Family Nurse Practitioners to work in our new Westover Hills multi-specialty clinic anchored by primary care, and including the following: Family Medicine, General Medicine/Geriatrics, Cardiology, GI, Pulmonary, General Surgery, ENT, Orthopaedics and Urology. These positions will hold an appointment of Faculty Associate. The work week is 40 hours, Monday-Friday, with some weekend duty. Fluency in Spanish is desirable. Applicants should be prepared to manage a wide range of primary care and minor trauma and have a broad understanding of the acute management of chronic problems such as Diabetes, Hypertension, COPD/Asthma, and CHF/Coronary Disease. Applicants must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)/American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Geriatricians:

The Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking academic geriatricians at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor level to join a group of geriatricians and GNP’s in the expansion of the teaching and clinical missions to include development and expansion of medical student, resident and geriatric fellow curriculum.  On going scholarly activity and both inpatient and outpatient geriatric care are required.  Salary commensurate with experience.  

 

Qualifications:
Board certification in family medicine required.  Formal fellowship training preferred, eligible for Texas licensure.  Eligible for appointment at the Assistant, Associate or full Professor level with at least three years of direct academic experience in an academic department required.  Effective communication skills; excellent health assessment skills; good computer skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a collaborative health care team.  Sensitivity to psychosocial issues in health care with an emphasis on ethnic issues.

FAMILY PHYSICIAN with OPERATIVE OBSTETRIC SKILLS

The Department of Family & Community Medicine seeks a full-time faculty physician with experience in obstetrics and a passion for maternity care.  The applicant should have delivery room skills, operative obstetric skills, and a commitment to family-centered maternity care.  Fellowship training in Maternal & Child Health (or similar program) is highly desirable.  Board-certification in Family Medicine is required.  Appointment will be at rank of Assistant/Associate/Professor commensurate with experience.
