University Health System's outpatient health care center, the University Health Center-downtown is a complex of ambulatory care clinics providing both primary and specialty care.
This historic structure, which opened in 1918 as the Robert B. Green Memorial Hospital has adult and pediatric same-day appointed clinics and a wide variety of specialty clinics, some of which have Saturday operation hours. The center also provides full scale prenatal services for normal and complicated pregnancies.
With more than 300,000 outpatient visits each year, the University Health Center-downtown, is among the busiest facilities of its kind. The center serves as the hub for the Health System's neighborhood primary care clinics and for the majority of patients, it is their entry point into the University Health System.
Students will see sicker patients than typically seen in an outpatient community setting. Students are supervised by a variety of Family Medicine faculty and residents.
