Geriatrics: Dr. Parker

UT Senior Health Clinic has moved to Tower One, Christus Medical Center Campus – 2829 Babcock Rd, CSR NW, Suite 525; PH: 210-450-9890.

Open House: February 13 from 4:30 – 6:30 pm – beer, wine and appetizers will be served.

Welcome Dr. Falcon! He’s a geriatrician working in the FHC and inpatient in the ACE.

Dr. Ye is President-Elect of the Texas Geriatric Society.

MARC: Dr. Gillard

Supervisory structure changes (shift of manager, resignation of supervisor).

Shared PCMH goals with Internal Medicine/Geriatrics.

New interim clinic manager is Gricelda Valdez.

Interviewing for a front desk representative and an MD position.

Have ongoing quality improvement efforts including: weekly staff meeting, didactics for staff, direct call center supervision, changes to walk-in clinic (ends March 1), template changes to optimize wRVU but maintain patient & provider satisfaction, & other ideas from Feb. 1 consultant visit are being considered.

STEER Laredo/Harlingen:

Border Environmental Cooperation Commission is developing educational materials for the “Reducing Prenatal & Childhood Environmental Exposure Risk among Hispanic Families” project

Continuing 4-week rotations at the border in Laredo & Harlingen

10 MD/MPH students will attend the February and May rotations. STEER rotation will serve as their MPH practicum

Autism Research Group: Dr. Miller

Tooth Fairy Study:

845 teeth to date from 300 families in TX and Mexico

Applying for NIH and private funding; collaborating with a dozen investigators on obesity/environmental exposure grant. Plan is to collect control teeth from these participants.
