Regional Family Medicine Grand Rounds
!

Grand Rounds is a weekly program sponsored by the South Central Area Health Education Center (AHEC) in partnership with the Dept. of Family & Community Medicine.

Grand Rounds is presented live every Friday at the UTHSCSA Medical School, room 309L. Participants can also watch LIVE Online OR from one of our videoconference locations. Most presentations are also available for CME units. To view an archived presentation online for CME, participants must first log on through the CME portal.

South Texas Regional Family Medicine Grand Rounds Mission Statement
Provide Family Physicians and other primary care providers in South Texas and beyond with evidence-based and patient-centered instruction they can use to prevent disease and improve the care they deliver to their individual patients, families and communities.

Competencies Covered
Our Grand Rounds sessions are designed to update Family Physicians and other health care providers on new, evidence-based, and useful information in the following competencies:

  • Medical knowledge
  • Patient Care
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Professionalism
  • Practice-based learning and improvement
  • Systems-based practice

Target Audience
We welcome Family physician faculty, Family Medicine residents, other health care providers from our department; physicians and health care providers from San Antonio and South Texas; and medical students in our third year clerkship and fourth year rotations

Expected Outcomes
We expect that participating in our Grand Rounds will improve the medical care participants provide by integrating evidence-based content and quality improvement strategies. We emphasis the assessment of outcomes such as perfomance improvement inpractice and point of care learning which incorporates documented application of new knowledge into practice.

Family Medicine Grand Rounds Objectives

Provide Family Physicians and other primary care providers with evidence-based information they can use to provide patient-centered care in Family Medicine ambulatory and hospital settings.

Provide Family Physicians and other primary care providers with evidence-based guides for diagnosing and managing common diseases in patients from both genders across the life span.

Identify, evaluate, and implement evidence-based preventive, diagnostic, and management strategies in Family Medicine ambulatory and hospital settings.

Improve the overall care of our patients including children with special needs and those who suffer from pain or chronic or terminal conditions.
