Dr. John M. Smith, Jr. Visiting Professorship in Family Medicine Research

The Dr. John M. Smith, Jr. Visiting Professorship in Family Medicine Research was established as a means to enrich the teaching, clinical and research environment of the Department of Family & Community Medicine by hosting distinguished colleagues to address cutting edge research developments in family medicine.

Visiting professors are chosen for their contributions to the advancement of knowledge in family medicine through research and scholarly pursuits and for their potential contributions to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and the research community.

Each visiting professor presents to the UT Health Science faculty, community faculty, community physicians, fellows and friends of family medicine at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio's main campus during their annual Research Day. Additionally, each visiting professor spends time with faculty in small group sessions to support and foster research within the department.
