Overview:

During this presentation, Rene Camacho, MD will provide a general overview of clinical electrodiagnostics as they pertain to evaluation of peripheral nervous system pathology.  With the primary care physician in mind, Dr. Camacho will discuss what information these tests can provide, how they are used and the risks.  He will also explain contraindications and limitations as well as promote proficiency when incorporating electrodiagnostics into a care plan.

Objectives:

  • Define electrodiagnostics.
  • Explain what information NCS/EMG provide and how these tests are used.
  • Identify the risks, contraindications, and limitations of electrodiagnostics.
  • Establish what information is helpful in the consult.
